GE Optima CT660: angled view, with the Medical Outfitters watermark

Published 28 September 2026. Product facts were checked against GE HealthCare documentation on 28 September 2026. Written by the Medical Outfitters sales and field engineering team.

A refurbished GE Optima CT660 costs $225,000 to $375,000 in 2026, delivered, installed and warrantied, and $350,000 to $475,000 with the 128-slice option. It is the 64-slice scanner most sites step up to from a 16-slice: a 40 mm detector, 0.35-second rotation and ASiR dose reduction in a smaller, lower-power package than the LightSpeed VCT it replaced. It anchors the 64-slice band of our CT scanner cost guide; new 64-slice systems run $625,000 to $975,000.

This guide covers what the CT660 is, the ASiR, cardiac and 128-slice configurations, our 2026 range, what moves a CT660 quote, what to check before you buy, who it suits against the LightSpeed VCT and the Revolution EVO, and how to buy one through MO Select. Specifications are GE’s published figures, checked 28 September 2026.

Overview

What Is the GE Optima CT660?

The GE Optima CT660 is a 64-slice CT scanner introduced in 2011 as the successor to the LightSpeed VCT in GE’s mid-range. It uses the 40 mm V-Res detector acquiring 64 channels, rotates in 0.35 seconds and was designed with dose reduction built into the platform: ASiR (Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction), which GE states cuts dose by up to 40 percent at the same image quality, was an option on early builds and standard on later ones.

Two things set it apart from the VCT it replaced. It has a smaller footprint and a lower power draw, which made it easier to site in rooms built for 16-slice scanners, and it was offered with a 128-slice reconstruction option, sold through GE’s GoldSeal program as the Optima CT660 with ASiR, 64 channel and 128 slice, which lets the same detector reconstruct 128 slices per rotation. It shares its console family and applications with the Discovery CT750 HD.

GE followed the CT660 with the Revolution EVO and later the Revolution Maxima, so the CT660 is now a refurbished purchase, and one with a long support horizon because GE itself refurbishes and resells it under GoldSeal alongside the independent market.

Configurations

Optima CT660 Configurations

A CT660 is described by its licences and its console: ASiR, cardiac, 128-slice and the console generation are what separate one unit from another.

ConfigurationWhat it isWho it suits
Optima CT660, 64 sliceThe base configuration: 64 channels on the 40 mm V-Res detectorGeneral radiology at a hospital or imaging centre
Optima CT660 with ASiRThe ASiR licence installedSites that need the dose reduction; most later builds
Optima CT660, cardiacSnapShot Pulse gating and the cardiac analysis packagesCoronary CT angiography and calcium scoring
Optima CT660, 128-slice option128 slices per rotation from the same detectorBusier sites that want the throughput of the 128-slice class
Console generationOriginal console or the later console upgradeLater consoles carry current software and faster reconstruction

ASiR, cardiac and 128-slice were sold as licences and options, so we confirm what is installed on the unit before we quote rather than assume it from the model name.

Price Drivers

What Moves the Price of a Optima CT660

Two quotes for the same Optima CT660 can differ by a whole configuration. These are the lines that move the price, roughly in order of impact.

  • Licences ASiR, cardiac and the 128-slice option are each a line
  • Tube condition The Performix tube is the largest cost item; a new or low-hour tube moves the price
  • Console generation A later console with current software is worth paying for
  • Detector condition Calibrated with no dead channels, or a repair line
  • Siting The CT660’s lower power draw and footprint usually mean the existing room is reused
  • Warranty and tube coverage Our range includes the MO Select warranty with the tube position stated
Buying Checklist

What to Check Before You Buy a Used Optima CT660

A used Optima CT660 is bought on its records. These are the checks our engineers run and the questions to put to any seller before you sign.

  • ASiR and licences: Dose reduction and cardiac options were sold as licences. Get the installed list in writing; a CT660 without ASiR is a different purchase.
  • Tube hours and scan seconds: Ask for the tube’s install date, scan seconds and arc history; it is the single largest cost item on the system.
  • 128-slice option: If the listing says 128, confirm the licence is present and active on the unit.
  • Detector calibration: Ask for the last calibration and a phantom image.
  • Console version: Confirm the console generation and software version, and whether the console upgrade has been done.
  • Gantry and table: Slip ring, high-voltage tank, table drive and weight rating; ask what has been replaced.
  • Room and power: The CT660 sites in most 16 and 64-slice rooms; confirm the power supply and the HVAC against the specification.
Fit

Who the Optima CT660 Suits, and the Alternatives

The CT660 suits sites outgrowing 16-slice imaging that want faster coverage, thinner slices and cardiac capability.

  • Hospitals and imaging centres stepping up from a 16-slice scanner
  • Sites that need cardiac CT without the price of a premium platform
  • GE sites that want one service ecosystem
  • Buyers who want a 64-slice with a long support horizon and GoldSeal parts

Alternatives to the Optima CT660

ModelWhy you would choose it instead
GE LightSpeed VCTThe 64-slice predecessor, for less, with a larger footprint and higher power draw
GE Revolution EVOThe successor: 64 slices with 128-slice reconstruction on the current platform
Canon Aquilion PrimeThe 80-row, 160-slice alternative from Canon
GE BrightSpeed EliteThe compact 16-slice for sites that do not need 64
How to Buy

How to Buy a Optima CT660

  1. Send the room, the power supply and the case mix. Room dimensions, shielding, the electrical supply and the exams you run decide the slice count before the model does.
  2. Choose the configuration. Slice count, tube, dose-reduction and cardiac licences and console generation, matched to the case mix.
  3. Get the tube position in writing. Tube install date, scan seconds and the coverage terms are the single largest cost item on a used CT, so we state them on the quote.
  4. Survey the site. Shielding, power, HVAC and the rigging route, before the scanner is bought.
  5. Schedule the de-installation and rigging. Transport and installation are in our price; the schedule is agreed with your facilities team.
  6. Agree the warranty and service term. The MO Select warranty is written, with the tube coverage stated; a service contract for the years after it is quoted alongside.
  7. Applications training and go-live. Protocol set-up, physicist acceptance testing and technologist training on site.

We quote within one business day and deliver, install, train and support across the United States, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean through an ISO 13485:2016 certified quality system. Request a Optima CT660 quote » Current availability is on the MO Select Optima CT660 product page.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a GE Optima CT660 cost?
A refurbished Optima CT660 costs $225,000 to $375,000 in 2026 delivered, installed and warrantied: $225,000 to $300,000 for a base 64-slice unit and $275,000 to $375,000 with ASiR, cardiac packages and a later console. The 128-slice option runs $350,000 to $475,000. New 64-slice systems run $625,000 to $975,000.
What is the difference between the CT660 and the LightSpeed VCT?
Both are 64-slice GE scanners with 40 mm coverage and 0.35-second rotation. The CT660 is a generation newer, with a smaller footprint, lower power draw, ASiR dose reduction and the 128-slice option. The VCT costs less on the used market.
Does the CT660 include ASiR?
Not always. ASiR was sold as a licence on early builds and became standard later, so we confirm it on the unit before quoting. Ask for the installed licences in writing.
What does the 128-slice option mean?
The same 40 mm detector reconstructs 128 slices per rotation instead of 64, which raises throughput and thin-slice coverage. It was a licensed option, sold by GE as the Optima CT660 64 channel, 128 slice.
What is the difference between the CT660 and the Revolution EVO?
The Revolution EVO is the CT660’s successor on GE’s current platform: 64 slices with 128-slice reconstruction, newer reconstruction options and a longer support life. It costs more on the used market and is covered in our Revolution family guide.
What room does an Optima CT660 need?
It was designed to fit rooms built for 16-slice scanners, with a smaller footprint and lower power draw than the VCT. The existing room, shielding and power are surveyed and usually reused; our CT scanner cost guide covers siting.
Does Medical Outfitters sell the GE Optima CT660?
