How to choose a CT scanner

A CT scanner is bought on three numbers and one plan: the slice count you need for the exams you will run, the throughput you expect, the dose and image-quality features your radiologists want, and the room and service plan that keep the scanner working for the next ten years. Used, refurbished and new CT scanners for sale

A used CT scanner for sale on this page and the refurbished CT scanner for sale next to it are the same class of machine at different points in its service life: the difference is what was done to it before delivery and what is warrantied afterwards. Whether you want to buy a used CT scanner, a refurbished CT scanner, used CT scanner stock as-is, or buy a CT scanner new, the questions below settle which is right for the room.

New CT scanners. We sell Fujifilm CT systems new, as an authorized dealer: the Supria 64 and Supria 128, the SCENARIA View and SCENARIA View Focus Edition, and the 128-slice iStream (the Supria 32 is sold for veterinary use in the United States). New buys you the current dose-reduction and reconstruction software, a fresh X-ray tube with its full life ahead of it, the manufacturer warranty and the longest supported service life.

Refurbished CT scanners (MO Select). Our engineers rebuild pre-owned GE and Siemens scanners to the manufacturer specification, replace worn components, verify tube performance and image quality, then install the system with our own crews and cover it with a written warranty. The GE Optima CT660, GE LightSpeed and BrightSpeed families and the Siemens SOMATOM Scope are the platforms we refurbish most often because parts, engineer knowledge and service history are all deep. Used CT machines. A used scanner is tested and working but sold without a full rebuild, usually with the existing tube. It is the lowest entry price and suits facilities with their own biomedical team or a defined short-term need. Ask about used units not yet listed. GE, Siemens and Philips scanners are available refurbished or used only; we do not sell those brands new.

Year and availability: refurbished scanners are sourced and rebuilt per project, and the quote states the year of manufacture, tube history and delivery date of the specific unit. New Fujifilm systems are built to order with the lead time on the quote. Used and refurbished stock rotates, so ask for units in progress if the model you want is not listed.

Room requirements and siting

A CT scanner needs a lead-shielded room with a separate control room, dedicated three-phase power, cooling for the gantry heat load, a floor that carries the gantry weight and a delivery path from the truck to the room; compact systems such as the Supria 32 and Supria 128 fit rooms that older scanners could not. We survey the site before quoting and coordinate shielding and construction with our construction partner, in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean as well as the mainland. Delivery, installation and de-installation

Our own rigging and installation crews handle site inspection, permits, rigging, gantry placement, calibration, image-quality testing and applications hand-off. We de-install and remove scanners at the end of their life, handle the tube and gantry logistics for a replacement project, and buy or trade in used systems. Florida deliveries are scheduled with our Miami crew, the rest of the United States is covered on scheduled trips, and Puerto Rico and the Caribbean by container shipping from Miami with installation by our engineers. Service, tubes, parts and warranty

Refurbished scanners come with a written warranty and new scanners carry the manufacturer warranty. Service contracts, repairs and preventive maintenance are available for GE, Siemens, Philips, Fujifilm and Hitachi scanners whether or not the system was purchased from us, backed by more than 20,000 parts in stock. Financing and leasing

Most CT scanners can be bought outright or leased. Tell us your target monthly payment and term and we will quote both routes, with installation and the first year of service included, so the numbers you present are complete.

CAT scan machine, CT scan machine or CT scanner?

A CT scanner machine, a CT scan machine, a CAT scan machine, a computed tomography machine and the one-word catscan machine are all the same equipment, and the cat scan machines for sale here are listed under their model names. CT scan equipment and computed tomography equipment mean the scanner plus the injector, workstation and accessories around it. A search for an open cat scan machine usually means a wide-bore CT; every CT scanner has an open ring gantry rather than a tunnel, so a cat scan machine for sale is never an enclosed system.

They are the same equipment. CAT scan (computed axial tomography) is the older name, CT scanner (computed tomography) is the current one, and buyers also search for CT scan machine, CT machine, CT imaging system and multi-slice or multi-detector CT (MDCT). A scanner rebuilt to the manufacturer specification with worn components replaced, tube performance and image quality verified, delivery, rigging and installation by our own crews, calibration and applications hand-off, and a written parts and labor warranty.

Which CT scanner brands do you sell new?

How much does a CT scanner cost?

Can I trade in my old CT scanner?

Yes. We buy and trade in used imaging equipment, de-install and remove the old scanner, and handle the tube and gantry logistics on a replacement project.

Do you deliver and install outside Florida?

How old is a used CT scanner, and does the age matter?

Every quote states the year of manufacture, the tube history and the service records of the specific unit, because two scanners of the same model can be years apart. Manufacturer software support and parts availability matter more than the year alone; the platforms we refurbish are chosen because both are deep.

Is a refurbished CT scanner as reliable as a new one?

A certified refurbished scanner is rebuilt to the manufacturer specification, tested for tube performance and image quality and covered by a written warranty, so it runs the same protocols it did new. What you give up is the newest dose-reduction and reconstruction software and the longest remaining support life, which is why new still makes sense for some sites.

What should I check before buying a used CT scanner?

The tube's age and exposure history, the detector and gantry service records, whether the manufacturer still supports the software version, which options and licenses transfer, and what the seller warranties. Ask for a test scan series and a site survey before you commit; we provide both.
