Overview

Fujifilm FDR D-EVO III: Glass-Free Lightweight DR Detector

Authorized Fujifilm digital radiography detector supplier. The FDR D-EVO III is a digital X-ray detector that is both portable and fast. Unlike bulkier, slower glass-based panels, it is much more pleasant for staff to use, and it does not sacrifice quality. The images it produces are crisp and clear, and it does not require a high level of radiation to capture them. Its design makes it one of the thinnest and lightest DR detectors available, so staff can handle it easily in portable or bedside applications.

Fujifilm engineers replaced the glass base TFT with a thin, flexible film base, which improves X-ray transmittance and raises the detective quantum efficiency to 58 percent for higher quality images at a lower dose. The 14 by 17 inch model weighs just 2.2 kilograms, a forged magnesium lithium alloy frame supports a 310 kilogram load, the HydroAG antibacterial coating guards against bacteria, and IPX6 and IP5X ratings resist water and dust. Proprietary ISS irradiated side sampling, internal memory for 100 images, and Dynamic Visualization II complete the package.

Key Features

Glass-Free Film-Based Imaging in an Ultra-Light Detector

The FDR D-EVO III pairs a glass-free film-based sensor with a lightweight, rugged, antibacterial design. Higher image quality at a lower dose, plus easy handling and cleaning, set it apart from conventional glass-based panels. Full technical detail is in the expandable sections below.

Glass-Free Film-Based TFT: replacing the conventional glass base with a thin flexible film improves X-ray transmittance and removes the glass layer that can crack, which makes the detector lighter and more durable
DQE 58 Percent: the film base raises the detective quantum efficiency from 54 percent to 58 percent at 1 line pair per millimeter, for higher quality images at a lower dose
ISS Irradiated Side Sampling: optical sensors bond to the X-ray irradiation side of the panel, which suppresses scattering and attenuation and creates a sharp image with a low X-ray dose
Cesium Iodide Scintillator: a CsI scintillator with a 0.15 millimeter pixel pitch delivers high resolution detail
Internal Image Memory: up to 100 images are stored in the panel memory, and the LED display shows the stored image count and battery status even when the panel is used on its own
SmartSwitch Automatic Detection: SmartSwitch detects X-rays automatically without a hard wired connection between the generator and the DR power supply

Ultra-Lightweight: the 14 by 17 inch model weighs approximately 2.2 kilograms without the battery, lighter than first and second generation DR detectors, which reduces strain and the risk of dropping the panel on a patient
Magnesium Lithium Alloy Frame: a forged Mg-Li alloy frame protects the internal device while staying light, and supports a 310 kilogram load capacity
HydroAG Antibacterial Coating: an antibacterial effect 100 times greater than conventional silver coatings reduces bacteria below the detection limit within one hour for hygienic use between patients
IPX6 and IP5X Protection: waterproof against jets from any direction and dust proof against small particles, so fluids like blood or vomit do not penetrate the device
Easy-Clean Flat Design: a flat shape with reduced contours and curved shell edges makes the panel easy to wipe down and simple to slide under patients and pick up from a flat surface
Five-Color LED Positioning: side-center LEDs on four sides aid positioning, show a green ready status, and use five colors to distinguish multiple detectors

The synergy of the ISS method and the flexible film-based TFT is what sets the D-EVO III apart. The thin film reduces attenuation of X-ray signals and increases absorption, which improves both sensitivity and resolution while keeping the dose low. At the same time, the lightweight magnesium lithium alloy frame, the HydroAG antibacterial coating, and the IPX6 and IP5X ratings make the detector easier and safer for staff to handle, clean, and rely on across portable, bedside, and high-volume radiology work.

Use Cases

Clinical Applications

Deployed wherever a light, durable, and hygienic DR detector turns an X-ray system into an efficient digital radiography workflow, from the bedside to high-volume rooms.

Workflow

From Bedside Placement to a Processed Image

A detector workflow built for speed and easy handling. Simple placement, automatic detection, fast preview, and advanced processing move every exam from the bedside to PACS. Expanded workflow details are in the expandable sections below.

The lightweight 2.2 kilogram panel is easy to handle, and the curved shell-designed edges on both sides allow easier insertion into patient beds and a simpler pick up from a flat surface. The flat, reduced contour shape also makes the detector quick to wipe down between patients.

SmartSwitch detects X-rays automatically, so the D-EVO III does not require a hard wired connection between the X-ray generator and the DR power supply. The technologist exposes as usual, and the detector starts image creation on its own, which simplifies portable and retrofit setups.

An image preview appears in less than 2 seconds, wired or wireless, and a fully processed image is ready in less than 5 seconds. The glass-free film-based sensor and ISS method deliver a sharp, high DQE image at a low dose, while the LED display confirms status and stored image count.

Paired with Console Advance, the system applies Virtual Grid to correct scatter without a physical grid and Dynamic Visualization II to optimize contrast and density for each body part. Up to 100 images can buffer in panel memory when the network is unavailable, then route to PACS through standard connectivity.
